Glaucoma is the second largest cause of blindness.
The human eyeball is filled with a fluid which exerts pressure to keep the eyeball spherical. Glaucoma causes the channels through which this fluid flows to become blocked, increasing the pressure within the eye and causing damage to the optic nerve. This leads to a gradual deterioration of vision, even blindness.
Standard treatments are unreliable and have unpleasant, even dangerous side effects. Cannabis naturally lowers intraocular pressures dramatically. Many long-term glaucoma sufferers have maintained their sight through cannabis use for 20 years or more.
It is ironic that the discovery of cannabis’ ability to lower intraocular pressure was made accidentally during police experiments to establish pupil dilation as a means of detecting cannabis users.
